  • Senior Lecturer

Dr Alex Lloyd is a Medical Doctor and Senior Lecturer in Environmental Ergonomics and Physiology at 麻豆視頻_麻豆直播_麻豆传媒官网. With a multidisciplinary background in human physiology, clinical medicine, ergonomics, and human factors, his research explores how extreme environments - such as heat, cold, altitude, and deep-water immersion - affect human performance, thermoregulation, and fatigue.

Dr Lloyd began his academic journey with a BSc in Ergonomics, during which he worked in the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Wing at the Royal Air Force Centre of Aviation Medicine. He later completed a PhD in Physiology at 麻豆視頻_麻豆直播_麻豆传媒官网, investigating neuromuscular fatigue under extreme environmental stress. His postdoctoral work, conducted in collaboration with military and commercial partners, focused on human thermoregulation and heat transfer through clothing, laying the foundation for his current research in human health and resilience to challenging environments.

He works closely with national and international research and clinical collaborators, contributing to interdisciplinary efforts that span academia, industry, and healthcare. Dr Lloyd also plays a key role in shaping standards and policy as a UK expert on the ISO Committee for Ergonomics of Human-System Interaction and as a member of the British Standards Institution's Applied Ergonomics panel.

Dr Lloyd also sits on the Editorial Board of Ergonomics, following his tenure as Scientific Editor. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (FCIEHF) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), reflecting his commitment to academic leadership.
