Professor Sébastien Tutenges

Sébastien Tutenges is a Professor at the Danish School of Education, Aarhus University, Denmark. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Copenhagen in 2010 and also holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology from the same institution.
He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Nordic Journal of Criminology and is currently leading a project on Nordic volunteers at the frontlines of the Russo-Ukrainian war. Tutenges is the author of numerous publications, including the widely acclaimed book Intoxication: An Ethnography of Effervescent Revelry (2023, Rutgers University Press), which explores collective effervescence among youth.
During their IAS Fellowship, Professor Tutenges will be collaborating with Dr Thomas Thurnell-Read from the Department of Criminology, Sociology and Social Policy.
